Students Qualify for College Credit

AP Calculus and English Lit

Once again students in Renae Yoder’s Advanced Placement Calculus class did exceptionally well on the AP exam with 11 of the 13 students qualifying for college credit and six attaining the highest possible score (5). This is equivalent to a college grade between A and A+. Most colleges will grant students six credit hours with this score. Congratulations to these students (Corine Alvarez, Hyuntaek Guan, Tony Miller, Margaret Plank, Misha Rebec, and Nick Rebec) and to teacher Renae Yoder for their exceptional success.

In Bethany’s first year of offering AP English Language and Composition, over half of the senior class, along with eight juniors, elected to take this advanced placement test. Eighteen students qualified for college credit with three attaining the highest possible score (5). Congratulations to seniors Caitlin Fecher and Sara Klassen, junior Taylor Ann Krahn, and teacher Michael Yeakey.

Beginning in 2010-11 Bethany will also be offering two new AP courses: Government and English Literature and Composition. Chemistry students are also able to receive dual-credit at both Bethany and Goshen College.
