Haiti Reforestation Project

Environmental Science students buy 700 trees. Inspired by technology director Peter Shetler's presentation regarding his research related to Acacia Tree reforestation in Tanzania and after reading an article on deforestation in Haiti (a country that used to be 75% forested and is now only 2% forested), several Environmental Science students suggested that the class raise funds to buy trees for Haiti. Students raised $50, which was matched by teacher Amy Thut. The $100 is enough to buy 700 trees through Mennonite Central Committee's reforestation work in Haiti.
