Discover the Difference

In many ways, Bethany is like any other school. Students in grades 6-12 learn to read and write. They study science, math and social studies. They sing and play. They have times of laughter and times of tears. They make friends. What's the difference?

The difference is Jesus Christ. Those who follow Jesus Christ have a different outlook on life, a different identity, different relationships with others, and different sense of purpose. At Bethany, Christ is the center of life and learning. Jesus Christ makes a difference!

Studies indicate that Bethany is different.* Based on a recent independent survey, the following five distinctives describe Bethany Christian Schools.

Christ-Centered

"To love Christ is better than to know everything."
-Christopher Dock, 18th-century Mennonite educator

Focused on Christ

Bethany Christian Schools invite students to follow Christ in daily life and equips them to serve others, promote peace, and lead in the church and the world.

A Different World View

One of the most important tasks of Christian schools is to help young people form their framework of values. A recent independent survey confirms that Bethany Christian Schools equip students with a fine academic education and encourages them to thoughtfully explore spiritual and lifestyle commitments. The study also shows that students from Bethany are more likely than other students to recognize the importance of participation in the Mennonite Church.

Christian Teachers

Teachers are at the heart of a Christ-centered school. For them, teaching is not just a job, its a calling. Along with providing excellent academic instruction, Bethany teachers, coaches, administrators, and staff model Christ's love to students and incorporate Christ's teachings into the classroom, athletics, and daily work.

At Bethany Christian High School, values are both taught and modeled.

Opportunities

Opportunities means a chance for personal development and advancement. Bethany Christian Schools offer countless opportunities to develp gifts and interest in music, art, drama, athletics, and other areas beyond the classroom.

Opportunities during Interterm, a one-week alternative learning experience, and Spring Arts Day, a special emphasis on the arts, are often mentioned as highlights by students.

Opportunities in academics may mean the chance to receive special help or the opportunity for advanced or independent study.

Opportunities also mean connections:

  • Connections with people and organizations that can help students reach their goals
  • Connections with Christian friends, teachers and leaders.
  • Connections with international students from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Connections with the broader church and its programs and institutions.

Peace and Service

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God" - Matthew 5:9

Outgrowth of Faith

Peace and service go hand-in-hand at Bethany Christian Schools - the way of the cross rather than power and control. Bethany proclaims the gospel of peace, not because it is a Mennonite tradition, but because it is consistent with following Christ in all areas of life.

Agents of Reconciliation

Bethany Christian Schools recognize that peace is first nurtured by a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. From that beginning point, students learn that God calls all people to agents of reconciliation, whether in school or as members of the global community. Students at Bethany have opportunities to interact with service workers both locally and internationally.

Messengers of Peace

The Peace Society is an organized avenue for students with special interest in discussions about peace and activities promoting peace.

Serving the Community

Many students volunteer their time regualry in peer tutoring, local health organizations, and other service agencies. A schoolwide day of service at local nonprofit agencies, class and co-curricular projects, and Senior Serviceterm provide students with opportunities to experience the challenges and joys of serving others.
