BCS Announcements

Monday, May 12, 2008

ALL STUDENTS: On service day some Bethany students took home some motherless kittens from LaCasa so they wouldn't die. They now need a home. If you are willing to take these kittens, see Mafra Maust.

It's hard to go green when we had 20% of our non-disposable bowls (10) thrown in the trash on Friday and had to dig them out! Any green volunteers out there who want to monitor the trash situation during lunch? Today Joy dug out the bowls, but on a regular basis all of the cafeteria staff is already stretched to complete our tasks in the allotted time. Also, over the course of this year, and years past, we lose a large number of silverware which we assume go in the trash. Please try to remember not to throw out reusable items.

SENIORS: Extra graduation announcements are available in the office for $1.50 each.

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL: "Senior Faith Statements" -Daniel Gingerich and Andrea Hochstetler

SPORTS: The baseball team split a doubleheader with Prairie Heights Saturday: losing 7-2 and then winning 8-6. Mike Fecher was the winning pitcher. Johnny Kauffman had two hits in each game, including a double. The team hosts Central Noble at 5:00 tonight.

The softball team slit a doubleheader with Elkhart Christian, losing the first game 9-5 and then winning 3-0 on a one-hitter by Chlesea Noble. Chelsea also hit a home run. Callie Bontrager had a triple and Jodi Stutzman a double. Tonight is senior night as the team hosts Angola at 5:00.

Grade 8 boys planning on playing high school soccer meet at 11:45 in the chapel.

Anyone planning on playing boys soccer next year meet at 12:30 in Marcelo's room.

All girls tennis players except seniors meet in Room 304 after finishing your lunch for a brief meeting about senior night. If you can't be there, talk to Mary or Juanita.

Volleyball open gym 7-9 tonight for both middle and high school players.

MISCELLANEOUS: Underground Railroad interterm students meet after school in the chapel.

Stained Glass interterm people it is time to take home your projects. Stop by the display case after school tomorrow, with a box in hand, and you can take your fragile artwork home to your room and plug in your night light for some blissful slumber before exam week.

Any junior girl interested in more information about the Junior Miss Scholarship Program should come to Christine's room during lunch tomorrow. This is a college scholarship program (not a beauty pageant).

ABSENT-HIGH SCHOOL: Justin Greger

ABSENT-MIDDLE SCHOOL: Caleb Morris

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Anyone who is popular is bound to be disliked." -Yogi Berra (1925-), baseball player/manager born this date, known for his seemingly contradictory statements

Bonus Berraisms: "If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else." "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is." "Cut that pizza in four slices; I'm not hungry enough to eat eight."
