Geography Bee Winner


Seventh grader Elijah Lora, son of Juan and Nancy Lora, won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee and a chance at a $25,000 college scholarship. Students answered oral questions on geography in this first-round of the 23rd annual bee sponsored by the National Geographic Society. As Bethany's representative Elijah will take a written test with opportunity to advance to the state competition in Indianapolis on Apr. 1, 2011.

Eighth graders Trent Yoder and Austin Hooley placed second and third. Others making the final round of the school-level bee were eight-graders Yuri Teno, Tristan Clark, and Jesse Amstutz, seventh graders Peter Shirk and Kyle Snyder, and sixth graders Hannah Yeakey and Simon Hurst.
