New Girls Soccer Coach
Thavisith “Coach T” Mounsithiraj
has been selected as the girls soccer coach for Bethany Christian High School. He fills the vacancy left by Dennis Yoder, who coached the Bruins for four years before resigning at the end of the 2010 season. Bethany Athletic Director Benji Hurst says, “I am very excited to have Coach T joining us at Bethany. Coach T brings a wealth of coaching knowledge and experience, but more importantly, he already has a great understanding of the mission and goals of athletics at Bethany.”
In accepting the position at Bethany, Coach T, who recently completed nine years as women’s soccer coach at Goshen College, stated: “What truly attracts me to coaching at Bethany is the sense of community that characterizes every aspect of the school. I believe a quality program can only result from players, parents, and coaches pulling together toward a common goal and vision.”
“Further, from my experience of coaching players from Bethany through club soccer and at Goshen College, student-athletes at Bethany understand the value of intellectual, physical, and spiritual balance to achieve personal well being for themselves and others, are committed to service, and act on that commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of others. I recognize the challenge of taking over a program with a history of success, but believe Bethany has student-athletes who possess the ability, the commitment, and the desire to put forth effort for the desired result.”
Prior to his stint at Goshen College he coached at Northridge and Three Rivers high schools, twice earning conference coach of the year honors (1998 and 2000). He has also coached for Elkhart County United Soccer Club and a U18 girls travel team. In addition to coaching at Bethany, he will continue as guidance counselor at Northridge High School. He and his family attend Maple City Chapel.
