Bethany hosts first contest


On Thursday, Nov. 11, Bethany hosted its first-ever speech tournament, with representatives from Elkhart Central, Elkhart Memorial, Howe Military, and Westview participating.

Leaders for  Bethany on the day were senior Ji Eun Han, champion in extemporaneous speaking, and junior Pooja Patel, champion in spontaneous argumentation and second in extemporaneous speaking. 

Also placing were junior Peter Schrock, tied for fourth in extemporaneous and sixth in spontaneous argumentation; junior Sarah Brew, fourth in spontaneous argumentation; junior Ben Hochstetler, third in extemporaneous and second in spontaneous argumentation; senior Nik Diaz, fourth in prose interpretation and senior Sharisse Yoder, fifth in prose interpretation. 

Schrock, Brew, and sophomore Maddie Gerig earned their first National Forensic League (NFL) degree, Meri. Hochstetler picked up his second, Honor.
