BCS Announcements

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

BART: Great News! You can now purchase $25 and $100 Meijer gift cards just like you do all of your other cards! There is no longer the requirement that you use a Meijer credit card to get the rebate. It is at a higher rebate as well: 2%. Look for it online and on your paper order form. Another vendor that has been added is Omni Hotels: $100 gift cards at 7% rebate. The nearest Omni hotels are in Chicago, Detroit, and Indianapolis.

ALL STUDENTS: Next Monday, Feb. 15, will be the point in the 3rd quarter where students earning D’s or F’s will be restricted from the library for the remainder of the quarter. Students are encouraged to log onto RemWeb and track their grades, and turn in any outstanding work.

Our two spring visit days are Feb. 15 and March 22 with next Monday being our biggest! This a great opportunity to share Bethany with friends in the public schools, since many have the day off. All students who bring a friend will be entered in a drawing for an iPod Touch. If we reach a school-wide goal of 50 visitors for the two spring visit days combined, we will have a late start day and John Mast will have a full head of hair for two weeks. So bring a friend, cousin, next door neighbor, or someone from church!

HIGH SCHOOL: Forensic Science J-Term please meet today during lunch at 12:45 in Calvin’s room. Bring your lunch if you need to.

Anyone parking in the south parking lot next to the sidewalks, please keep the nose of your vehicle off the edge of the sidewalk. It makes it easier to keep the snow removed and prevents car damage from a tractor.

SPORTS—MIDDLE SCHOOL: The girls basketball B lost to Concord 12-17 and the A teams lost in overtime.

Tonight’s grade 6 game at Jimtown has been postponed to February 22 (4:30 at Jimtown).

SPORTS—HIGH SCHOOL: The varsity girls basketball team defeated Hamilton 56-50 in the first round of the Hamilton sectional. The team will play Keystone at 6 p.m. Friday with the championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Anyone interested in running track this year should meet briefly in Room 304 after school today. If you are not yet sure if you want to join, you should still stop by for a couple minutes.

HS CHAPEL: Spiritual Life Week theme: “Healing our Brokenness.” Today Klaudia Smucker, pastor at College Mennonite Church, will be focusing on the power of prayer.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “God is inside you and inside everybody else. But only them that search for it inside find it. And sometimes it just manifest itself even if you not looking, or don’t know what you looking for.” —Alice Walker (1944-), author born this date, in her Pulitzer-prize winning book The Color Purple.
