BCS Announcements

Friday, May 9, 2008

ALL STUDENTS: Come hear high school musicians at their spring concert tonight at 7:30. The evening will include senior recognition.

On Saturday postal carriers nationwide will be collecting canned/dry food items for local food pantries. If you are interested in helping your community in this way, pick up a specially-marked grocery bag in the cafeteria or middle gym lobbies, fill it up, and set it out by your mailbox Saturday morning for your carrier to pick up.

As the end of school starts drawing near, you may want to start taking home unneeded items from your gym and hallway lockers.

The next couple of weeks the cafeteria will be trying to reduce the amount of disposables in our trash by decreasing the use of styrofoam and other paper products. Please follow signs that say one scoop only, etc. when you pass through the grab-n-go line. This will be on a trial basis and reviewed and evaluated at the end of the school year to determine what actions to take for next year. Please take only the napkins you actually use rather than a large stack to help save our trees! Thank you for your cooperation!

MIDDLE SCHOOL: Grade 8 boys planning on playing high school soccer meet at 11:45 in the chapel.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: Golf scores: Bethany 229, Clinton Christian 217, Lakeland 171. Jared Schwartzentruber led the Bruins with a 45.

The softball team lost to West Noble 10-3. Jodi Stutzman (1 double) and Mattie Lehman each had two hits. The team hosts Elkhart Christian in a doubleheader at noon tomorrow.

The baseball team plays a doubleheader at Prairie Heights at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

The girls tennis team hosts Mishawaka Marian at 1 p.m.

Anyone planning on playing boys soccer next year meet at 12:30 in Marcelo's room.

Following Tuesday's home baseball and tennis matches (and after the softball team returns from its game at Fairfield), we will have a sectional kickoff/celebration for spring high school sports and dedicate the new softball/soccer press box. The evening will include a bonfire and grilled fajitas and Tex-Mex beans. Spring sport coaches will briefly talk about their teams and when sectional play begins. Interested fans will have opportunity to walk through the new press box.

MISCELLANEOUS: Anyone interested in forming a high school bowling club for next school year should come to Room 301 over lunch today. Bring your lunch if you are interested in exploring this possibility.

All Underground Railroad interterm students bring your lunches to Jennifer's room today for a chapel-planning meeting.
