A mass choir of more than 450 singers from 15 Mennonite high schools across the U.S. and Canada will perform “Music in My Soul” at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 12, in Sauder Concert Hall on the campus of Goshen College. The program includes seven pieces by the mass choir and one piece by each school’s choir. Reserved-seat tickets are $5 and may be purchased online through Goshen College at www.goshen.edu/tickets. The concert also will be livestreamed at https://www.goshen.edu/academics/music/livestream/
The choirs are being hosted by Bethany Christian High School as part of the 53rd annual Mennonite High School Choir Festival, April 10-12. The festival is hosted on a rotating basis by member schools of Mennonite Schools Council. Bethany last hosted in 2003.
Guest conductor for the 2015 festival is Dr. Eugene Rogers, associate director of choirs at the University of Michigan. Recognized as a leading conductor, pedagogue, and lecturer, Rogers recently served as a panelist for the National Endowment of the Arts and a featured conductor and lecturer for Singapore’s Ministry Branch of Education Inaugural World Youth Choir Festival. His research on the choral traditions of East Africa resulted in the publication of three editions of Tanzanian choral music under the Hal Leonard World Music Series.
