Track: Simon Graber Miller placed fifth in state in the high jump, where he broke his own school record by 3 inches, clearing 6'7"! See Elkhart Truth article: An Overnight Sensation. At regionals Simon jumped 6'4 (tying his school record) which qualified him to adavance to state. Cedric Brenneman also advanced to regionals in the 400m, finishing 7th while breaking his own school record with 51.48. In sectionals: Simon Graber Miller was 2nd in high jump at 6'3, and Cedric Brenneman ran the 400m in 51.51 (setting a school record at that time). Eva Sargent set a school record of 52.37 in 300m hurdles at sectionals but did not advance. The teams finished 0-4 in duals meets with NECC schools, but twice finished second in six-team small school invitationals. Softball finished the regular season on a 7-game winning streak and a 13-9 record. In sectionals at Lakewood Park, the defending sectional champion Bruins defeated Elkhart Christian 13-6 in a seminfinal game and then lost in the championship game to Fremont 10-0. Baseball finished the regular season on a 4-game winning streak. In sectionals at Fremont, the Bruins defeated Hamilton 5-3 in a first-round game and then lost to eventual sectional champion Fremont 10-0 in a semifinal game. The Bruins finish the season with a 9-11 record. Earning special awards were: Jonathon Yousey, MVP; Jonah Farran, Sportsmanship; Jim Lyu, Most Improved; Alex Cartwright, Team Player.
Golf sectional will be on Friday, June 1, at Meadow Valley (Northridge). The team finished strong with a dual-meet win over Goshen and Bremen to finish with a 5-4 record. The team also placed 2nd in the Caston Invitational earlier in the season. Team awards: Jacob Saylor, MVP and Sportsmanship; Kory Kern, Senior Leadership; Colin Ward, Most Improved;
Girls tennis lost in sectionals 1-4 to NorthWood. The team finishes with a 10-6 record. Except for the sectional loss, all losses were close at 2-3. See team awards photo below.
