Spring Instumental and Choir Concerts May 9 and 15.
Jubilate Singers (grades 11-12) and Chorale (grade 9) earned gold ratings at the April 17 district choir contest: Jubilate Singers in group one and Chorale in group 3. Both choirs received a first place rating in their sight reading also.
The high school orchestra and Bruin Jazz will join with the Chorale and Jubilate Singers to present their combined spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9. Featured Bruin Jazz soloists include David Eigsti, Emily Grimes, Sydney Kehr, J.D. Nafziger, and Luke Slagel. Celebrating a year of student success in the music program, the concert will also feature a special recognition of all senior musicians, and the outstanding senior vocalists and instrumentalists. Everyone is welcome to come for an evening of music and special recognitions--enter the school at the office or chapel entrances. The choirs are under the direction of John D. Smucker, and the orchestra is conducted by Barb Slagel.
Middle school musicians will present their spring concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 15. Featured vocal groups include the grade 6 music class, grade 7 & 8 choir, and a special ensemble of six guys who call themselves the Men of Note (Isaac Schertz, Lucas Morgan, Jeff Yoder, Andrew Slagel, Jesse Bontreger, and Jared Miller. Featured instrumental groups include the orchestra, a handbell choir, and beginning instruments. Come for an evening of music making presented by enthusiastic middle school musicians--enter the school at the office or chapel entrances. The choirs are directed by John D. Smucker, and the orchestra is directed by Barb Slagel.
