Michael Yeakey, Bethany’s speech and debate coach, has earned his second diamond pin from the National Speech and Debate Association. He will be recognized at the national competition in June in Dallas, Tex., where a school-high seven Bethany students have qualified to compete. See 2019 season summary.

A Diamond Award recognizes a professional career that combines excellence and longevity. The NSDA provides diamond awards based on coach points received through team participation, student achievement, public service, and leadership work.

Yeakey started Bethany’s speech and debate chapter in 2009-10 after serving at Westview for nine years. He currently serves on the district committee for the Northwest District of the NSDA.
