2015-16 Forensics Summary

 In the 2016 state debate tournament Bethany finished 12th of 30 schools competing. In congressional debate Hannah Yeakey finished 8th in the Super Senate competition, and Elijah Lora served as presiding officer in preliminary and semifinal rounds and was voted Speaker of the House. Advancing to the semifinal round were Luke Hanna, Joel Yoder, and Fiona Yeakey. In public forum Philip Krabill and Alistair Tollar placed 24th. Lora advances to nationals in Congressional Debate.

Bethany’s speech team placed third in sectionals and fifth in state. Qualifying for the state finals were:

  • Elijah Lora (champion in both impromptu and international extemporaneous)
  • Hannah Yeakey (second in original oratory and third in international extemporaneous)
  • Joel Yoder (second in United States extemporaneous and sixth in impromptu)
  • Fiona Yeakey (fifth in international extemporaneous and sixth in original oratory)
  • Alistair Tollar (fifth in both United States extemporaneous and impromptu)
  • Jonah Hochstetler (third in original oratory)
  • Leah Beachey and Sarah Leininger (third in scripted duo interpretation)
  • Klaus Bottorff (fourth in United States extemporaneous)
  • Paul Krabill (alternate in United States extemporaneous).
 

Lora, H. Yeakey, and Tollar advanced to the state quarterfinals, thus finishing in the top 24.
