The Great Strides campaign launched in 2019, aiming to maintain our excellent student programming while improving the safety, beauty and accessibility of our athletic complex on the east side of the campus. With $2 million dollars designated for Bethany’s outdoor athletic complex, Great Strides improvements will include a new track, renovated concession stand, upgraded soccer and softball fields, fencing, and wheelchair accessible paths.
The campaign has been going strong, and we expect to conclude it in the coming school year. Head of School Tim Lehman has been collaborating with neighbors and city officials for more than a year to iron out details of the site work, since the plan accommodates a planned extension of the city’s Winona Trail to the south of Bethany. Due to some delays this spring, our new goal to break ground is spring 2021. Currently, architects are re-engineering the project to meet stormwater drainage requirements and re-bidding over the summer.
