We are excited to share that next year we are looking to have several international students join us as full-time students! Starting this year, we have also now partnered with SHARE! High School Exchange Program for most of our international students. SHARE will facilitate legal paperwork, expectations for the students while at Bethany and in the US, provide coaching for host parents before the student arrives, and otherwise be a guide for host families and international students for any questions/concerns they may have during the entirety of their stay. For example, if a student is sick and needs to go to the doctor, SHARE will take care of their insurance. Or if they are falling behind in classes, SHARE will talk to them about their academic expectations.
We currently have 3 students who will likely attend Bethany next year. Below is a little bit more information about each student:
- incoming 10th grade boy from Vietnam, family friends with a past Bethany family. He is vegetarian, and he loves animals (would love pets in the house), swimming competitively, doing puzzles, and singing/dancing!
- incoming 11th grade boy also from Vietnam, who has an uncle living in South Bend. He likes playing basketball, reading books, and listening to music, and his favorite subject is math. He describes himself as sociable and humorous!
- incoming 9th grade girl from China. She likes hiking, biking, and volunteering, and her favorite subjects are math and biology. She is interested in learning more about the Bible and Christianity.
Without host families, these students will not be able to attend Bethany and fulfill an opportunity of a lifetime of studying abroad! If hosting one of these students interests you, please contact our Admissions Director, Madison Swartzendruber.
