KP's 20th season

On Saturday, December 20th, Bethany family, friends & alumni gathered to celebrate Coach KP for 20 years of coaching and impact. She is currently the longest tenured coach (that is still coaching) in Elkhart County.

At the heart of KP’s leadership is a deep faith—one that shows up not just in words, but in the way she coaches, the way she cares for her players, and the way she carries herself on and off the court. She has consistently pointed her teams toward something bigger than basketball, reminding them who they are and whose they are.

The biggest lesson that KP instilled in me comes down to one word: integrity. On and off the court/field, KP taught me to do the right thing when no one is watching and going above and beyond outside expectations. Arrive early, leave things better than how you found them, notice what needs to be done and do it without having to be asked, don’t make excuses, own your mistakes, but don’t let them consume you.

2025-26 Girls Basketball

Bethany picked up its first win of the season Saturday against Lakeland Christian, 39-38. Ellie Morris scored 11 points and Kendra Kern added 10 as the Bruins outscored the hosts 10-7 in the final period to pick up the conference win.

As part of the celebration, former players from across the years were invited to return and honor the coach who helped shape their high school experience. While not everyone could be present in person, many shared reflections on the lasting influence Coach KP has had on their lives—on the court and far beyond it.

The biggest lesson I took from KP is the art of balance. She mastered the mix of intensity and fun, knowing exactly when we needed tough love to improve and when we needed humor to reset. Beyond the field, she taught me that you can be a demanding leader while still genuinely caring for the people you lead. She was exactly the hilarious, supportive role model I needed at that age.

The evening concluded with past and present players gathering together on the court, a powerful visual reminder of the legacy Coach KP continues to build.

KP taught me so many lessons during high school, but she instilled a strength and courage in the face of adversity in her players that has extended to life far beyond basketball for me. Congratulations on twenty years, KP! You have left such an impact on so many players and students. It has been an honor to call you coach and friend!
