Competing at the Indiana Schools Speech and Debate Association State Debate Championships, three Bethany debaters advanced to elimination rounds and two made the top 15.

Seniors Eviella Sefu and Margo Finnigan and junior Rachel Hirschler all advanced to the semifinal round of Congressional debate. Finnigan and Hirschler made to to the final round, where Finnigan placed eighth. The tournament had begun with 65 students competing in Congress.
Senior Elena Unzicker did not make the steep elimination round cut of 16 from the original 66, but performed well, winning 2/3 of her ballots.
The team tied for 13th overall, of 33 schools competing.
Hirschler earned the NFL Distinction degree by surpassing the 250-point level at the tournament.
The team hosts a speech tournament at Bethany this coming Saturday.
