Christmas Gala
Bethany's Annual Christmas Gala
Friday, December 12
Sauder Concert Hall, Goshen College Campus
7pm, with doors open at 6:30pm
“There’s a new world coming, it’s already here. There’s a new world on its way…let’s begin to live that way.” The kingdom (or kin-dom) of God is both a present reality and a future hope. It’s here, and it’s not here yet. In Advent, we live in this now-not-yet between space. Jesus has been born, ushering in a new way of realizing God’s love. We see the ways that God’s love, God’s dream, God’s new world is breaking into our reality! Yet we also know that all is not well in our reality, and this new world is not yet fully upon us. This year’s theme, which is the same as our whole-school chapel theme for the year, invites us into a place of active hope. We notice the new world that the Christ child ushers in and live into it with trust and hope.
The Christmas Gala is a full-school event, intended to bring the whole Bethany community together in a celebratory event that is uniquely Bethany (creative, scrappy, student-powered, faith-based, and full of heart). It’s an interdisciplinary event, with opportunities for all students to contribute. It’s also intended to simplify the season for families, allowing them to have one holiday event on their calendar instead of multiple concerts and events.
Here's a recording of last year's performances:
