Upper School Principal
Reports to: Head of School
Status: Full-Time, 216 day contract
Location: Bethany Christian Schools, Goshen, Indiana
Position Summary
Bethany Christian Schools seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and mission-driven leader to serve as Upper School Principal (grades 6–12). As a key member of the school’s senior leadership team, the Upper School Principal is responsible for the vision, oversight, and daily operations of the upper school, providing spiritual, academic, and cultural leadership aligned with Bethany’s Anabaptist-Mennonite values.
This role calls for a leader who inspires excellence in teaching and learning, cultivates strong relationships with students and families, and fosters a school culture rooted in faith, peacebuilding, and community.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Oversight
- Serve as the chief academic and administrative leader of the upper school (grades 6–12).
- Partner with the Head of School and senior leadership team to set and implement strategic goals.
- Collaborate with the head of school to make final decisions on upper school matters, including scheduling, discipline, curriculum, and staffing.
- Champion a student-centered school culture that reflects Bethany’s core values: academic excelence, faith that lives, and community.
Faculty and Instructional Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and support upper school faculty and staff.
- Lead regular faculty meetings and professional development with a focus on excellence in teaching and student growth.
- Work with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, and the Head of School to oversee curriculum development and academic programming, ensuring alignment with school mission and accreditation standards.
- Conduct classroom observations, provide constructive feedback, and support faculty growth.
Student and Family Engagement
- Know and support students personally and academically, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Oversee student support systems including discipline, guidance, and accommodations in collaboration with the School Counselor.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, school culture, and important updates.
Operations and Communication
- Collaborate with the Head of School on budget planning, staffing, and resource allocation for the upper school.
- Manage daily operations including scheduling, attendance, safety protocols, and student life activities.
- Support extracurricular and co-curricular programs including athletics, arts, and service opportunities.
- Partner with Admissions, Advancement, and other departments to promote a cohesive K–12 vision.
Qualifications and Experience
- Committed Christian with a deep appreciation for and willingness to support the Anabaptist-Mennonite mission of Bethany Christian Schools.
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience; prior administrative or leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead with grace, humility, conviction, and wisdom in a diverse school community.

Food Service Director
Qualifications
- Training in the food service environment
- At least three years of practical related work experience
- Appropriate interpersonal and supervisory skills, communication, team work, etc.
- Ability to manage food service facilities, equipment, products and personnel
- Ability to manage a National School Lunch Program, including nutrition standards, records, government funding, compliance and finances
- Knowledge and skills for Farm to School work and student education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Job goals
- Effectively manage Bethany’s school lunch program and cafeteria, so that school lunch becomes a visible asset at Bethany, contributing positively to Bethany’s identity and reputation as a school.
- Enhance the student experience at Bethany by incorporating Farm to School initiatives into the school lunch program, and by integrating school lunch and food service with student health, environmental and practical education.
Performance responsibilities
- Provide vision, direction, program planning and oversight for school lunch, kitchen operations, and student cafeteria experience, incorporating Farm to School initiatives
- Develop menus and recipes, taking into account Bethany’s food service program goals, Farm to School concepts, USDA National School Lunch Program guidelines and customer feedback
- Provide nutritious, appetizing and filling meals for students and staff
- Ensure adequate record keeping, reporting and compliance needed for the National School Lunch Program
- Supervise other food service staff
- Effectively manage revenue and expenses of the school lunch program. This includes working with the Business Manager to develop spending plans, set prices and manage costs.
- Support student educational programming in areas related to food service and Farm to School initiatives, including health, environmental and practical education as appropriate.
Physical qualifications
- Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull a weight of 30 pounds, transport it 100 feet and lift to shoulder height
- Must be able to reach over head to retrieve and store objects
- Must be able to use kitchen appliances, equipment and utensils
- Must be able to sit, stand and cook for several hours at a time

4th or 5th Grade Teacher
Bethany Christian Schools seeks full-time teachers for fourth or fifth grade beginning the 2025-26 school year. Primary teaching responsibilities include language arts, social studies, science, mathematics and bible. Teachers are accorded professional discretion and entrusted to help shape curriculum and instruction. Applicants should hold or be qualified to obtain Indiana licensure in elementary education.

Head Volleyball Coach
Bethany Christian Schools is accepting applications for a head varsity volleyball coach. The head varsity volleyball coach will be responsible for administering all areas of the volleyball program. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of volleyball and coaching fundamentals that translate directly to student-athletes at every level.
