Lost in Yonkers

Nov. 22-24

Bethany Christian Schools will perform Neil Simon's Pulitzer-Prize winning play, Lost in Yonkers, Nov. 22-24, 2013.

Lost in Yonkers is a dramatic comedy that centers around a family in Yonkers during the 1940s. When Jay and Artie's mother dies, their father Eddie drops them off with their grandmother in Yonkers so that he can work to repay debts. Grandma is a very severe and intimidating woman who has terrified all of her children. Jay and Artie encounter their mentally challenged Aunt Bella, who longs to escape Grandma's tyranny and run away with an usher from a local movie theater, their tough-talking Uncle Louie, who pulls the boys into some of his schemes, and their Aunt Gert, who suffers from a breathing problem that is more psychological than physical. A coming-of-age tale, Yonkers follows Jay as he learns about changing what he can and learning to accept what he cannot.
